Transportation Options

We are pleased to have Air Canada as our official Canadian airline for the conference.  When you register, you will receive a promotion code to be eligible for a discount on all travel to and from the conference through Victoria or Vancouver International airports.

To get to the Shawnigan Lake School campus you must first come to Vancouver Island, either by ferry or by air. The school is about an hour and a half drive from four major ferry terminals and the Victoria International Airport.

Shawnigan Lake School is located midway between Victoria and Duncan on Vancouver Island, British Columbia Canada.  Nearby airports are Victoria and Nanaimo on Vancouver Island and Seattle and Vancouver.

If you arrive in Vancouver, the options are:

  • Drive or take public transportation to Horseshoe Bay (ferry to Nanaimo) or Tsawwassen (ferry to Swartz Bay) and catch a ferry (BC Ferries).
  • Fly to Victoria International Airport. The venue is approximately 1 – 1 1/2 hours from the airport.

If you arrive in Seattle the options are:

  • Downtown Seattle to downtown Victoria via Clipper – a passenger only ferry.
  • Drive to Horseshoe Bay (ferry to Nanaimo) or Tsawwassen (ferry to Swartz Bay) and catch a ferry (BC Ferries),
  • Drive to Anacortes, WA and take Washington State Ferries to Sidney, BC
  • Drive to Port Angeles and take Black Ball Ferries to downtown Victoria, BC
  • Fly to Victoria International Airport. The venue is approximately 1 – 1 1/2 hours from the airport.

Ground Transportation

We are working on arrangements for ground transportation: private car shuttles  from
Victoria airport/ferry/bus station, Nanaimo airport/ferry/bus station, Duncan/Mill Bay bus stops
and Brentwood Bay ferry. While public transportation is available to these stops, there is no public transportation available right to the venue and you might want to consider renting a car.

There will be an additional charge for ground transportation (private car shuttles) – please provide the details of your travel plans on the travel page of the registration form if you would like us to help make arrangements. We will coordinate ride sharing as much as we are able - so do let us know if you will have a car and are wiling to give others a ride to and from the venue.

What to Bring
The conference will be held at Shawnigan Lake School - a 300 acre campus across the road from Shawnigan Lake which is a great place to swim.  Bring your walking shoes and bathing suits to be ready to enjoy the local attractions.
